I've been rather nervous to actually put this up here, because I'm afraid of angering the NICU gods or something... but we do have a date for Charlotte to come home.
Wednesday.
This Wednesday. August the 25th. 26 weeks after she was born-- she's coming home.
We're meeting with the home care nurses today (Miss Charlotte gets nursing care for 8-10 hours a night) to plan out the best place to set her up and such. We're making our last minute runs to the store, we're stocking up on anything we can possibly stock up on, we're freaking out just a bit (well, really, I'm freaking out-- Peter is, as usual, unphased).
Can it be true?
I'll believe it when she's in the car and we're pulling away from the hospital.
But, really, truly, as long as all her monitors/NG tubing/bags/pumps/oxygen/nasal cannulas/etc arrive on time, Wednesday night, she'll be sleeping at home.
The light at the end of this looooong tunnel is finally blinding, bright and close enough to touch!!!! YAY Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy for you. Congrats! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteoh yay yay yay!!! that means i really need to get to the post office asap. whoops. i hope the weekend and early next week go well and Wednesday happens. WOOHOOOO!
ReplyDeleteWhat great news! Just wait until she is in the car and you are driving away-- that is when it will all settle in. I can't wait for you to experience that feeling on Thursday morning when you sit on the couch with your daughter and your son, in your pajamas not worried about getting to the NICU in time for morning rounds. That day was the day that I will always remember as one of the best days of my entire life.
ReplyDeleteThat's amazing, also amazing that she has been in the NICU longer than she was in the womb. Can't wait to see you tuesday.
ReplyDeleteHurray! All of you are in our prayers and we are so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteUmm. I need an address lady--there are important frilly girl things waiting to be sent for the princess's arrival home! (Because you are so not busy doing a million and two things already. haha.) Yay! We are jumping for joy over here. Way to go Charlotte--you amaze us!
ReplyDeleteoh my gosh, so happy for you! you guys are in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteWonderful news!!! I'm so sorry I missed your call the other day... I'm sure you are so busy but I'll call you back soon. I am so so so happy for you guys!
ReplyDeleteSimply amazing! I am sure your nerves are a rollercoaster ride, but continue to trust those mothering instincts. They serve you well. You are all a wonderful family and I am sure there are many miracles yet to come. :0)

Hooray!
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled for all of you! There is nothing like bringing home a baby - I'm pretty sure this homecoming will be amazing. Congratulations
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful and beautiful post. I jump to your blog often from my friend, Hillary's. I'm so glad that everything is working out and the NICU journey is finally coming to an end. It's such a huge part of your life for so long and you feel like it's never going to end and then one day you'll wake up and she'll be a happy, healthy preschooler and you'll be like, "Did that NICU thing really happen!? It's such a distant memory!" (This is my experience anyway...:) Good luck with the upcoming sleepless nights and constantly glancing at those monitors! Everyday now it will just get better and better!
